Crafton Hills College, San Bernardino Valley College to Temporarily Transition to Remote Instruction, Jan. 18 to Feb. 25

The following message was sent to students, faculty and staff on January 10, 2022.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As many of you know, COVID-19 rates are spiking in our region and state after the holidays.

To help prevent the spread of the virus in our community, we will temporarily transition to online services, distance education, and remote working from January 18 through February 25.

A Majority of Classes will Be Online, a Limited Number Will Meet In Person

  • The majority of courses and student services will be offered remotely from January 18 through February 25.
  • Students can expect to receive class meeting details from their instructors, or check on their Canvas Course Shell.

Campus Remains Open

  • During this time, essential services such as campus libraries, bookstores, food pantries, and child development centers will remain open.
  • Facemasks are required indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Employees

  • Starting January 18, until February 25, only staff whose work is deemed critical to current operations will be expected to report in-person to work.
  • Staff not required by their supervisor to report to campus or the district office are expected to support the continuity of operations by working remotely from home.

Campus Events

  • If you had planned to host an indoor campus event during this period, please transition the event to meet online, if possible. Alternatively, postpone in-person campus events until after February 25.

Vaccine Requirement

  • Consistent with the SBCCD Board of Trustees vaccine requirement, all employees are required to be fully vaccinated.
  • Students who are planning to take Summer or Fall 2022 semester courses must obtain a vaccine by March 11. Additional information about providing proof of vaccination will be forthcoming.
  • Facemasks are required indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We continue to update the SBCCD COVID-19 Information website with new information and answers to frequently asked questions for both students and employees. Please continue to visit this site regularly for updates.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility

We want to assure you that we are here for you and we are dedicated to your success. Our commitment to your well-being remains our top priority. We will get through this challenging time, together.
