The following message was sent to students, staff, faculty, and community members on April 15, 2020.

Dear friends and neighbors,

On behalf of my colleagues on the San Bernardino Community College District Board of Trustees, I would like to give you an update on our search for SBCCD’s 15th chancellor.

As we continue working together to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, the board unanimously voted on April 9 to extend the recruitment timeline. We will keep the application period open through July 17 to appoint a new chancellor in fall 2020.

By August 31, or as it becomes safe to do so, we will invite the final candidates to visit SBCCD to share their vision at public forums, meetings with constituents, and interviews with the board of trustees. Our goal is that the next chancellor begins their tenure on November 1, 2020, or as agreed upon by the chancellor-elect and board of trustees.

To learn more about the chancellor search timeline, recruitment process, or profile of desired qualifications, go to our website.

If you have questions or suggestions on the skills, knowledge, and ability required in the next SBCCD chancellor, please contact our executive search consultants from the Association of Community College Trustees.

For nearly a century, our colleges have opened doors of opportunity to our community, and still, there is so much to look forward to. Thank you for everything that you do to strengthen our educational mission.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anne L. Viricel

Chair, Board of Trustees
